以斯拉記 5
- 1 那時，先知 哈該 和易多 的孫子 撒迦利亞 奉以色列 神 的名 向 猶大 和耶路撒冷 的 猶大人 說勸勉的話。
- 2 於是 撒拉鐵 的兒子 所羅巴伯 和約薩達 的兒子 耶書亞 都起來 動手 建造 耶路撒冷 神 的殿，有 神 的 先知 在那裡 幫助 他們。
- 3 當 時 河 西 的總督 達乃和示他‧波斯乃，並他們的同黨 來 問說：「誰 降 旨 讓你們 建造 這 殿，修成 這 牆呢？」
- 4 我們便告訴 他們 建造 這 殿 的人 叫甚麼 名字。
- 5 神 的眼目 看顧 猶大 的長老，以致總督等沒有 叫 他們 停工，直到 這事 奏告 大流士， 得著他的回 諭。
- 6 河 西 的總督 達乃和示他‧波斯乃，並他們的同黨，就是 住河 西 的亞法薩迦人， 上 本 奏告 大流士 王。
- 7 本上 寫著說：「願大流士 王 諸事 平安。
- 8 王 該 知道， 我們往 猶大 省去，到了至大 神 的殿，這殿 是用大 石 建造的。樑木 插入 牆內， 工作 甚速，他們手下 亨通。
- 9 我們就問 那些 長老 說：『誰 降 旨 讓你們 建造 這 殿，修成 這 牆呢？』
- 10 又 問 他們的 名字，要 記錄 他們首領 的名字，奏告於王。
- 11 他們回答 說：『我們 是 天 地 之 神 的僕人，重建 前多年 所 建造 的殿，就是以色列 的一位大 君王 建造 修成的。
- 12 只因 我們列祖 惹天上的 神 發怒， 神 把他們 交在 迦勒底人 巴比倫 王 尼布甲尼撒 的手中，他就拆毀 這 殿，又將百姓 擄到 巴比倫。
- 13 然而 巴比倫 王 塞魯士 元 年， 他降旨 允准 建造 神 的這 殿。
- 14 神 殿 中的 金、 銀 器皿，就是 尼布甲尼撒 從 耶路撒冷 的殿 中掠去 帶到 巴比倫 廟裡的， 塞魯士 王 從 巴比倫 廟 裡取出來，交給 派為 省長 的，名叫 設巴薩，
- 15 對他 說 可以將這些 器皿 帶 去， 放 在耶路撒冷 的 殿中，在 原處 建造 神 的殿。
- 16 於是 這 設巴薩 來 建立 耶路撒冷 神 殿 的根基。這殿 從 那時 直到 如今 尚未 造 成。』
- 17 現在 王 若 以為 美，請察 巴比倫 王 的 府 庫， 看塞魯士 王 降 旨 允准在耶路撒冷 建造 神 的殿 沒有，王 的心意如何？請降 旨 曉諭我們。」
