- 1 โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย จงกลับมาหาพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเจ้า เจ้าสะดุดก็เพราะความชั่วช้าของเจ้า
- 2 จงนำถ้อยคำมาด้วยและกลับมาหาพระเยโฮวาห์ จงทูลพระองค์ว่า “ขอทรงโปรดยกความชั่วช้าทั้งหมด ขอทรงพระกรุณารับข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ข้าพระองค์จึงจะนำลูกวัวแห่งริมฝีปากของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมาถวาย
- 3 อัสชูรจะไม่ช่วยข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหมดจะไม่ขี่ม้า ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายจะไม่กล่าวต่อไปว่า ‘พระของเราทั้งหลาย’ แก่สิ่งที่มือของข้าพระองค์ได้สร้างขึ้น เพราะว่าในพระองค์ลูกกำพร้าพ่อพบพระกรุณาคุณ”
- 4 เราจะช่วยรักษาเขาให้หายจากการกลับสัตย์ของเขา เราจะรักเขาทั้งหลายด้วยเต็มใจ เพราะว่าความกริ้วของเราหันไปจากเขาแล้ว
- 5 เราจะเป็นเหมือนน้ำค้างแก่อิสราเอล เขาจะเบิกบานอย่างดอกลิลลี่ เขาจะหยั่งรากเหมือนเลบานอน
- 6 กิ่งก้านของเขาจะขยายออก เขาจะงามเหมือนต้นมะกอกเทศ และจะมีกลิ่นหอมเหมือนเลบานอน
- 7 เขาทั้งหลายที่อยู่ใต้ร่มเงาของเขาก็จะกลับมา เขาจะเจริญขึ้นเหมือนข้าว จะออกดอกเหมือนเถาองุ่น และจะมีกลิ่นเหมือนน้ำองุ่นแห่งเลบานอน
- 8 เอฟราอิมจะกล่าวว่า “เราต้องเกี่ยวข้องอะไรกับรูปเคารพต่อไป” เราเองได้ยินเขาและคอยดูเขา เราเป็นเหมือนต้นสนสามใบเขียวสด และผลของเจ้าก็ได้มาจากเรา
- 9 ผู้ใดที่ฉลาด ก็ให้เข้าใจสิ่งเหล่านี้เถิด ผู้ใดที่ช่างสังเกต ก็ให้เขารู้ เพราะว่าพระมรรคาของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็เที่ยงตรง ผู้ชอบธรรมทั้งหลายก็เดินในทางนี้ แต่ผู้ทรยศก็สะดุดอยู่ในทางนี้
